The resort's flagship club is practically next door, open 6:30 AM–9 PM daily: indoor lap pool, outdoor pool, hot tub, saunas, full gym with Peloton bikes, dedicated fitness studios running group classes open to renters (Pilates, yoga, spin and more), and an indoor gymnasium that doubles as the pickleball court, so the kids can shoot hoops on a rainy afternoon. Morning swim, then coffee on the screened porch. That's the routine here.
🏖️ Half-mile private beach + free tram
Guarded, uncrowded, and reserved for Sea Colony guests. The free tram (30+ stops, Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend) picks up near the condo and drops you at the sand. Bring your badges to ride. Travel light: rent umbrellas and beach chairs right on the sand, and complimentary sand wheelchairs are available from Security at Edgewater. And Thursday nights all summer: free beach bonfires (7–8:30 PM), roasting sticks and marshmallows provided, DJ included, sweet-treat cart on the sand.
🎾 Racquet Sports Center
One of the East Coast's top-ranked tennis programs: 46 courts across the resort: 30 tennis (14 Har-Tru clay, 10 hard, 6 indoor) plus 16 permanent pickleball courts, with courts on both the east and west sides. Junior camps run every week of summer (every level), adult camps on weekends, private lessons starting at age 4, and pro exhibitions through the season, capped by the Sea Colony Classic tennis & pickleball tournament each September. Paddle rentals just $5 at the Pro Shop.
🏀 West Lake Activity Center
A short walk (tram stop #31): 16 pickleball courts with a viewing deck, basketball, bocce, shuffleboard, cornhole, a putting green, playground, beach area, and the pavilion with charcoal grills. Courts run 8 AM–6 PM; the rest is open to dusk.
🚲 Trails, kayaks & bikes
Bike racks right by the unit make lock-up easy, and shady lanes and lake paths make the whole resort bikeable. Sidewalks run throughout Sea Colony too, so it's just as easy on foot: flat, stroller-friendly, and perfect for an evening walk to the courts or the pool. Take Jay's Bike Challenge, named for Suzanne's husband: ride the full loop around the community, or pedal from the front door to the beach and back before breakfast. The locals put kayaks and canoes into the Assawoman Canal a short walk from the condo. Paddle at golden hour and you'll see why the street is called Canal Ct. Bring bikes, or rent from Bethany Beach Goods & Bike Rentals at the Marketplace, two minutes away (same center as the badge pickup).
📅 Kids' programs, all summer long
Sea Colony runs a full daily calendar all summer: Club Sea Colony kids' camp (ages 4–10), Nike Jr. Tennis & Pickleball Camps, Kids' Night Out (ages 4–10, 5:30–8 PM; your dinner reservation just opened up), Junior Lifeguards, Little Hitters & Futures junior tennis, Splash Camp for the littles, treasure-hunt swims (dive for coins!), Thursday sandcastle contests (enter by 8 PM in the Sea Colony app; winners posted Friday), gaga ball and dodgeball nights, $1-a-card bingo on the Edgewater promenade, and seasonal food trucks. Programs are run by Sea Colony with their own registration and per-session fees (book in the app); the bonfires, sandcastle contest, playgrounds, and pools are what your badges cover. It isn't just summer, either: Thanksgiving week brings the Sea Colony Turkey Trot 5K through the community, benefiting Special Olympics Delaware. The daily schedule lives in the free Sea Colony app.
🌊 The Bethany boardwalk, minutes away

The boardwalk is the heart of it: the Chief Little Owl totem, mini golf, free Seaside Concerts at the bandstand (Thursday & Saturday nights, 7:30), Wednesday family shows in July, Monday movies on the beach at dusk, a farmers' market, and the July 4th parade & fireworks. A free town trolley loops it all (9:30 AM–9 PM, just flag it down).
🌮 Food trucks & beach eats
Food trucks roll up to the Aquatics Center all summer starting around 11 AM; the lineup rotates through tacos, cheesesteaks, Belgian waffles, and Thai, with the week's schedule in the Sea Colony app. At the beach, The Sandbar at Edgewater takes online orders for pickup, a snack cart roams the sand, and Freeman and the Racquet Center both have grab-and-go counters.
Most beach rentals give you one cold pool and a prayer. Sea Colony heats all twelve (two of them indoors), so the swim season stretches from spring through fall, and rainy days don't cancel anything. And here's the part no other beach town offers: five heated pools line the private beach itself. The kids do pool-to-ocean-to-pool laps all afternoon while you keep the same beach chair.
